Kansas QuiltFest October 7 & 8, 2011 Concordia, Kansas The entire town of Concordia, Kansas celebrated "150 Years of Quilts" at the 2011 QuiltFest! Admission - $5 for an armband good at both locations, both days. Net proceeds from this show benefit Neighbor to Neighbor: A Center for Women  Quilts will be on display at multiple locations: Nazareth Motherhouse (13th & Washington) Living Hope Foursquare Church (129 W. 6th) Cloud County Museum & Museum Annex (130 E. 6th) Dates and Times Vary at Each Location. The Nazareth Motherhouse was built in Concordia, Kansas in 1903 by the Sisters of St. Joseph. The first Sisters of St. Joseph united in LePuy Fancy in 1650. The Sisters of St Joseph of Concordia were founded in Newton, Kansas in 1883 and moved to Concordia in 1884. At one time there were more than 600 Sisters, but today there are around 160 in the United States and Brazil. |
