John James - Embroidery - JJ13539

Embroidery sewing needles are sometimes referred to as Crewel Needles.  Embroidery needles are the same as a Sharp sewing needle and they have a sharp point.  However, they have a long, extra large eye, which makes threading the needle so much easier when using multiple strands of stranded cotton embroidery thread.  These larger sizes of 1, 2, 3 and 4 are ideal when embroidering on heavy fabric with twisted yarn and this is often called crewel work.

The most popular embroidery needle sizes are from 6 to 10.  Sometimes these embroidery sewing needles are used in general sewing because of their larger eyes than that of the Sharp sewing needle. The diameter of each sewing needle is identical to its equivalent in the Sharp family and therefore the needle will not pierce the fabric during general sewing. 16 embroidery needles per pack.
