There's nothing better than an easy pattern that looks complicated. You just need to be able to sew a half-square triangle and cut strips to make the the blocks for this quilt.
18 Carat is made with a layer cake and coordinating yardage. The pattern is named for the sparkling gemstone look created by grouping the layer cake squares into color groupings.
With instructions this easy, 18 Carat can be put together in a weekend for a quick project to be made as a gift, or to have something new for your couch or twin bed. You can easily increase the size of this quilt by using two layer cakes and twice the yardage to make a queen-sized quilt from this pattern.

Please Note:
The pattern calls for 3 yards of black background. This only leaves 1/2" extra. Not enough!
You will be cutting 10" strips for the blocks and 2 1/2" strips for the binding. Cut your 10" strips first. Cut your binding last. We recommend purchasing 3 1/4 yards of the Black Magic background.
